Light Up Purple

Dear members,

The 10th of October is World Mental Health Day. On the 10th of October 2012, Amanda Todd took her own life after being a victim of bullying.

Her mother, Carol Todd started an initiative, "Light up Purple" to increase awareness to Mental Health issues and the effects of bullying. Her website is :

We, as the APA have added our support to this initiative. We urge all members and, indeed all mental health staff at clinics and hospitals, to wear purple on Friday 9th October, to draw attention to 10th October, which falls on a Saturday and thus won't be as well staffed.

Please support this worthwhile campaign to increase awareness to Mental Health issues.
