Dr. Payman Hajiazim

Dr. Payman Hajiazim completed his MD at Tehran University in 1999 and had a residency training in SBMU University in Tehran till 2006. In 2011, he completed the fellowship program of psychotherapy at the University of Toronto before starting his training in sleep medicine, in 2012.

Dr. Hajiazim moved to Calgary early 2015 and became affiliated with the University of Calgary in January 2018 as a clinical assistant professor in psychiatry and sleep medicine. He is as well an associate member of the Hotchkiss Brain Institute and Mathison Center.

 Dr. Hajiazim is the initiator and the medical director of “sleep and wake clinic” in Rocky view Health Centre, designated for the treatment of patients with different sleep disorders, including psychiatric patients with significant sleep comorbidities, and patients with treatment-resistant depression. His research in the field of sleep will include the state and trait sleep markers of depression and the changes in the trait markers with the novel treatments for depression, with a focus on ketamine. The research will also include studies on the insomnia and hypersomnia treatments.
