Physicians in Canada are required to participate in continuous medical education (CME). Psychiatrists, as members of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), are members of the Royal College’s Mainport Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. The Royal College recently implemented significant changes to the requirements for MOC.
The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) implemented the Physician Practice Improvement Program (PPIP) in 2021. All regulated members of CPSA must participate in PPIP and document their progress in the CPSA’s renewal information form (RIF). The first cohort of participants will need to meet the PPIP requirements at the end of 2025. This presentation will review the updated requirements for RCPSC and CPSA and will discuss strategies to comply with these requirements.
1. List recent changes to the RCPSC Mainport program;
2. Describe the requirements for the CPSA PPIP program; and
