Alberta Recovery Vs. Recovery Alberta; What is the Difference?

Presenting Author(s): Dr. Jan Banasch

Date and time: 21 Mar 2025 from 14:05 to 15:05

Location: Wildrose Salon A/B/C  Floor Map

Abstract

It has only been 3 months since Recovery Alberta migrated from AHS yet there has been very little education of mental health practitioners explaining what is the structure of Recovery Alberta and how this may impact us in the Mental health field. Confusing the issue further has been the Alberta Recovery Model which predated the Recovery Alberta Transition. The similar terminology alone has caused confusion! It has been surprising how few mental health clinicians know about this Addiction Recovery Oriented System of Care. Dr Banasch has compiled a presentation to explain each model and clarify the differences. We need to have an informed discussion as to how this will impact our practices and what concerns it raises . There
should be a lively Q & A at the end of this presentation.
