Katherine Shettell

Katherine Shettell is a registered social worker with a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Calgary. With 23 years of experience in education, family peer support, and social work, she has dedicated her career to supporting individuals and families navigating the complexities of severe mental illness and addiction. Currently, Katherine works with the Comprehensive Care Team at Recovery Alberta, Addictions and Mental Health, where she provides essential support to young adults and families facing severe and persistent mental illness, addiction, and other complex challenges. She is a researcher through the University of Alberta and a co-investigator in an ongoing clinical trial testing a psychoeducational curriculum delivered to family supporters of young adults with psychosis. Katherine's interest in this research comes through lived experience of supporting an adult child who is affected by psychotic illness.
