Dr. Emma Hamid is a PGY5 Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellow at the University of Saskatchewan. She grew up in Calgary and completed a Bachelor of Science at the University of Calgary before attending medical school at University College Cork in Ireland, graduating in 2020. Living and training in Ireland was one of the most exciting and formative times of her life and played a big role in shaping both who she is and how she practices medicine.
Dr. Hamid is now back home in Saskatchewan and really enjoying her training in Saskatoon. She was drawn to psychiatry because of the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in patients’ lives, as mental health touches every part of a person’s experience. The work can be challenging, but it is incredibly rewarding, and she values how much she continues to grow as a physician.
Becoming a mother in 2023 had a profound influence on her career path and inspired her to pursue child and adolescent psychiatry, with a strong focus on advocacy and giving children a voice. Outside of medicine, she loves staying active—her main hobby is weightlifting, and spends a lot of time training at the gym, along with yoga, running, and skiing.
