Dr. Kaitlin Chivers-Wilson is the Medical Director and a Consulting Psychiatrist at the Carewest Operational Stress Injury Clinic, serving Canadian Forces veterans and RCMP officers, with expertise in trauma-informed psychotherapy and psychopharmacology treatments.
Dr. Chivers-Wilson has a longstanding interest in traumatic stress disorders, completing a masters degree in psychiatry at the University of Alberta, focusing on the neuroendocrine impacts of traumatic stress. She graduated medical school and psychiatry residency at the University of Calgary.
Dr. Chivers-Wilson approaches her clinical practice from a trauma-informed perspective, and has additional training in a variety of psychotherapy modalities including Cognitive Processing Therapy, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Written Exposure Therapy, and Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy.
Respected as an expert in treating patients with complex trauma histories, she is also an accomplished researcher and speaker, and has presented at national and international conferences. Dr. Chivers-Wilson is a Clinical Assistant Professor with the University of Calgary’s Cumming School of Medicine and the Department of Psychiatry. In addition to her clinical work, she continues to be involved in research, student supervision, program development and teaching.
