Abstract:

Trans Health care is prominent in the news at the moment. Gender Identity disorder has been changed to Gender Incongruence in the ICD 11, removed from the Mental health disorder section and placed in the chapter on Sexual Health. This has been celebrated by the Trans population all over the world. However the trans population still needs the services of a psychiatrists to treat their mental health problems and to assist them in their medical transitioning. I would like to bring this topic to the attention of psychiatrist to make them aware of the struggles faced by this community. I’d also like to highlight the desperate need for more psychiatrists to become involved in providing care to this population.
