Abstract:
Psychiatrists in Alberta are largely paid by submitting claims for Fee Codes from the Alberta Health Schedule of Medical Benefits.
There are general codes available to all physicians, and codes specific to psychiatric care. These definitions both support and
constrain the elements of care that are compensable in Alberta. Billing appropriately provides financial incentives for psychiatrists and
available care for patients. Attendees can expect to optimize familiar and better understand unfamiliar aspects of the fee schedule.
