Dr. Jacquelyn Paquet
Disclosure

Dr. Jacquelyn Paquet is a PGY4 Psychiatry resident at the University of Alberta and currently completing her PhD under the supervision of Dr. Katharine Hibbard and Dr. Pamela Brett-MacLean. Her research stems from her upbringing in rural Alberta and subsequently her medical training in rural and remote Northern Alberta during her clerkship years. Her research focuses on exploring differences in rural/urban psychiatric illness, including setting of care and diagnosis to explore the impact of intersectionality and inequities in care access. Her aim is to direct innovative strategies to address systemic modifiable factors in reducing psychiatric illness severity and promote preventative methods utilizing multidisciplinary teams, predictive modelling,
and technology. She continues to liaise, advocate, and recommend training and education innovations to support postgraduate trainees in areas of EDI, specifically Indigenous health, and rural practice. Dr. Paquet has presented at national and international conferences to disseminate early research findings and continues to seek and build research networks given this vastly under-researched and critical area of focus. Dr. Paquet will begin her fellowship training in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Alberta with aims of advocating and supporting children and youth in rural and remote Alberta.
