Lyra Barchet completed her medical training at the University of Manitoba in 2016. Branching out from her hometown, she began her psychiatry residency in Edmonton, AB through the University of Alberta. In medical school, she initially was pursuing a residency in neurosurgery and completed research on Trigeminal Neuralgia identifying characteristics in patients that indicate whether surgical intervention would be beneficial. She opted instead to follow with family tradition and become a psychiatrist. After the arrival of her son, Davy, she is now completing her residency in the same Manitoba program her father completed more than two decades prior. When she’s not on the wards she can be found enjoying time on the prairies with her son and her dog Boris.
