Dr. Rampling has worked since 1980 in a number of hospital psychiatric units where psychiatric services were in extremely short supply.
He has provided dedicated care to his patients, who've often had to endure much to find the care they needed. He is the top-rated psychiatrist in Lethbridge by patients on RateMDs, and for a time was the top-rated psychiatrist in Alberta on the same website.
He has worked actively to provide consultation services requested by other doctors, and to teach psychiatry to health professionals from medical students, to psychiatry residents, to medical doctors, to nursing students and nurses.
He has worked in a variety of professional associations on behalf of Alberta psychiatrists. His work has brought compensation for psychiatrists closer to that of other medical specialists. He has designed and helped develop physician service definitions to provide incentives for psychiatric consultation, collaborative care with other medical and mental health professionals, inclusion of family members in care planning, and care of the most severely ill patients.
Since 2005 he has worked in office practice specializing in hormonal changes to mood and thinking that are often mistaken for psychiatric disorder, or make psychiatric disorder harder to treat.
Educational efforts include about 60 invited presentations to family physicians, psychiatrists, and other mental health professionals.
