Dr. Hibbard completed a BSc (Pharmacy) at the U of A in 1965, and an MD at the University of Toronto in 1971. After a decade in family practice he completed his residency in Psychiatry at McMaster University and the U of A. His career included appointments as staff psychiatrist at the University Hospital; staff psychiatrist and site chief at the Royal Alexandra Hospital; Clinical Department Head, Edmonton Zone Addiction and Mental Health; Clinical Professor in the U of A Department of Psychiatry; and past president of the APA. He has taken advanced training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and now acts as a consultant to the DBT team at Alberta Hospital Edmonton. His interest is improving public access to evidence-based behavioural treatments.
